In their work, Gilli and Bachmann show an Italian society torn apart by contradictions. The two journalists deal with prevailing ideals of beauty, the dominance of the church, the influence of entertainment television and violence against women, but they also repeatedly accompany protagonists who stand for a new strong awakening and for a diversity of lived womanhood. What is special is that at every point in their project, in addition to the journalistic quality, the duo’s personal solidarity is palpable.
