Founded as a cultural association in Bozen in 2003, for the past 20 years Lungomare has been producing artistic interventions in public spaces, exhibitions in unconventional venues, and publication and discussion formats that look at the relationship between art, architecture, design, and theory. Today, Lungomare is a cooperative and a platform for cultural production and design. To celebrate this important 20-year journey, Lungomare 20 was realised.

The 20-year journey of Lungomare

For twenty years, Lungomare has presented itself as a space of possibility and a field of action, as a discursive platform and a place from which impulses and alliances are triggered, in order to reconsider societal questions through the production and activation of artistic and cultural projects. From the beginning, Lungomare’s approach has always been contextual, projected towards the need to do research, operate in practice, take an activist stance, in order to reach spaces and artistic forms that always differ.

Lungomare 20 was the celebration of this 20-year journey, a program of performances, conversations, and concerts within the setting of its premises, where also the archive installation Constellation 2003-2023, curated by Angelika Burtscher, Daniele Lupo and Elisa Del Prete, was on display, with projects, ideas, visions, and impressions produced to date. During this two-day event, our premises came alive as we immersed ourselves in a stream of artistic, sound and visual interventions, debates, culinary happenings with local and international artists and authors.

We invite you to visit the Lungomare 20 website, especially designed for the occasion, to find out more about Lungomare 20 events.

For this occasion, the reader AS IF – 16 Dialogues about Sheep, Black Holes, and Movement  was published, built around 16 dialogues that place Lungomare’s artistic production within a geographic and thematic network, bringing together past and future translocal alliances.

For the occasion of Lungomare 20, the artists Martino Gamper and Marzia Migliora presented two site-specific interventions specially dedicated to the book.

Lungomare 20 was way more than just a celebration. It was an occasion to come together, get know each other, experience, observe, dance, talk and eat, venture new visions, say goodbye to old ones, and make room for dreams.

To remember the overwhelming energy of those two joyful days in early autumn, a video was made with the help of Marino Di Fiore and Remi Leist. You can now find it on our Youtube channel. Enjoy!
